Stress is itself often a cause of many ailments and illnesses or “dis-ease”,  as well as potentially affecting our normal day-to-day relationships.

 

One of the most important systems within the body is the immune system.  If this is not functioning effectively then serious health problems may develop. The health of the immune system may be affected by a number of factors, including an existing illness, by nutritional deficiencies, or by a previous or existing stressful situation.

 

Emotional distress, shock and trauma can have a deep and long lasting effect on the physical health of a person.  Symptoms may appear many years after the event itself, which may be forgotten or not acknowledged by the individual themselves.  It is in these cases important to work with the cause as well as the resulting effect of disharmony.

 

Stress can also be caused by problems in personal relationships. Often, the more the stress itself is ignored or not admitted to, the more likely it is to be pushed “within” the body itself and to become apparent as a physical symptom.
